Alice Mae (Mayfield) Coward

Funeral Service for Alice Mae Coward, 91, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery in Paden, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on June 23, 1931 in Micawber, Oklahoma to Margaret Matilda (Maynard) Mayfield and Jacob Franklin Mayfield and passed away on July 4, 2022 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to G.W. Coward on May 27, 1975. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2012. She worked in the cafeteria for Sallisaw Public School and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are:

5 sons, Frank Cheatwood and Lisa of Decatur, AR, Larry Cheatwood and Debra of Ada, OK, John Cheatwood and Fonda of Sallisaw, OK, Mark Cheatwood and Caryl of Sallisaw, OK and Jerald Cheatwood of Tulsa, OK;

1 daughter, Becky Cheatwood of Sand Springs, OK;

12 grandchildren, Jacob Cheatwood, Jason Cheatwood, Billy Hendrix, Jeff Cheatwood, Greg Cheatwood, Matthew Shannon, Michael Shannon, Joey Rogers, Kayleen Cheatwood, Jeremiah Cheatwood, Mark Eddie Cheatwood, Jr., and Elizabeth Cheatwood;

17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild;

1 brother, Ray Mayfield of Paden, OK;

and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five brothers, Harmon, Harvey, Fred, Vester and Gene Mayfield; and two sisters, Dorothy Heard and Katie Brown.

Active Pallbearers will be Jason Cheatwood, Billy Hendrix, Jeff Cheatwood, Jeremiah Cheatwood, Eddie Cheatwood, Jacob Cheatwood, Matthew Shannon, Greg Cheatwood, Michael Shannon and Joey Rogers.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
