Services for Alvin Edward Smith, 81 of Ft. Smith, AR will be at 2 pm on January 11, 2018 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc..

He was born on November 9, 1936 in White Oak, Arkansas to Nancy Irene (Norris) Smith and John Ernest Smith and passed away on January 6, 2018 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was married to LaVerne Louise (Dobbs) Smith on November 6, 1967 in Stigler, Oklahoma. He worked for Duplex Manufacturing, Crain Industry, and retired as a supervisor at USA Truck. He was a member of Harvestime Tabernacle.

Survivors are:

Wife of 50 years: LaVerne of the home

3 daughters: Melody Talmadge of Ft. Smith, AR, Tammy Rice of Charleston, AR, and Renee Foster of Bunch, OK

3 sons: Mark Smith of Ft. Smith, AR, Charley Smith of Paris, AR and Kevin Smith of Delaware

8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by daughter, Vicky Smith Priser; 1 son, Alvin Eugene Smith; parents, John and Nancy Smith; and 3 brothers, Eual, Cecil, and Clyde Smith

Active pallbearers will be Neal Rice, Anthony Rice, Cole Smith, Robert Priser, Christopher Priser, and Kevin Michael Priser.

Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Priser .

Viewing will be Wednesday 10 am – 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

The family will greet Wednesday from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
