Funeral Service for Andrew Jackson “Matt” Mathis, Jr., 73, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Cremation will follow under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on April 4, 1947 in Vian, Oklahoma to Eula Gladys (Matthews) Mathis and Andrew Jackson Mathis and passed away on August 3, 2020 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was retired from Cellofoam and was a mechanic and small engine repairman. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are:

daughters: Jodi Valdivia of Sallisaw, OK and Jennifer Birdtail and Leon of Sallisaw, OK;

son: John Mathis of Ft. Smith, AR;

5 grandchildren: Whitney, Taylor, Jacob, Haley and Ashton;

sisters: Edna Dodson of Sallisaw, OK and Bonnie Taylor of Stilwell, OK;

brothers: Frank Moreland of Blackwell, OK, William Mathis and Wilburn Mathis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerri Mathis; parents; and four siblings, Jackie Donald Mathis, Otil Starett, Ruthie Montogomery and Margie Fry.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
