Artie Mae (Owens) Pruitt

Funeral service for Artie Mae Pruitt, 78 of Gans, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Eastside Freewill Baptist Church in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Box Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on June 8, 1944 in Dripping Springs, Arkansas to Ila Mae (Cooksey) Owens and Ruben Artist Owens and passed away on June 2, 2023 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to Jerry Pruitt on November 26, 1964 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2001. Mrs. Pruitt worked at Gans Public Schools for 45 years as a paraprofessional, teachers aid and cook. She loved to shop, read and vacation, especially in Branson. She and Jerry visited all fifty states except Alaska, as well as Canada and Mexico. She loved her job and her family, especially her grand kids and always tried to find opportunities to baby-sit. Recently, she visited Wal-mart to love and hug on her friends. Artie loved the Lord and her pastor, Rev. Anthony Williams.

Survivors are two daughters, Deborah Hays and Jim of Muldrow, OK and Rhonda Taylor and Tommy of Sallisaw, OK; one son, Jerry Wesley Pruitt, Jr. and Julie of Gans, OK; two grandchildren, Michael Taylor and Brianna of Sallisaw, OK and Shea Taylor and Staci of Sallisaw, OK; five great-grandchildren, Ace Taylor, Channing Taylor, Grayson Gibson, Grace Gibson and Ridge Gibson; two sisters, Linda Stanford of Alma, AR and Karon Coynor and Taylor of Texas; three brothers, Jackie Owens and Kay of Gans, OK, Ronnie Owens and Carol of Muldrow, OK and Bobbie Owens and Linda of Muldrow, OK; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; and two brothers, Jimmie Owens and George Owens.

Active Pallbearers will be Mike Taylor, Ronnie Owens, Bobbie Owens, Shea Taylor, Jackie Owens and Taylor Coynor.

Viewing will be 4 – 8 pm Monday, 10 am – 8 pm Tuesday and 10 am – 8 pm Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm Wednesday.
