Graveside services for Benjamin Allen Newton, 85 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at McCoy Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on February 3, 1933 in McKey community, Oklahoma to Rosie Bell (Real) Newton and James Cannon Newton and passed away on November 12, 2018 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was married to Glennis Faye (Ross) Newton on June 3, 1954 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2010. Ben was a U.S. Navy veteran, where he served on the USS Los Angeles during the Korean Conflict as a Gunners Mate. He was a shipping and receiving operator for Sequoyah Fuels..

Survivors are:

1 daughter and son in law: Belinda and Joe Slater of Sallisaw, Oklahoma

2 sons and daughters in law: Alan Jay and Jeannie Newton of Midwest City, OK and Stanley and Lisa Pearcy of Bakersfield, CA

2 sisters: Jettie Smith and Irene Combs, both of Sallisaw, OK

1 brother and sister in law: Jimmy and Barbara Newton of Sallisaw, OK

9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Faye, 1 son: Michael J. Newton and his parents

Viewing will be Tuesday noon – 8pm and Wednesday 10am – 8pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet Wednesday from 6 – 8 pm.
