Graveside Service for Betty Lou Grass, 77 of Vian, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Redbird Smith Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on October 31, 1945 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Lillie (Sand) Grass and Ed Grass and passed away on September 16, 2023 in Vian, Oklahoma. Mrs. Grass was a homemaker and member of Keetoowah Nighthawk Society. She spent most of her life caring for for her grandmother. Betty loved animals, yard sales, crafts, quilting, sewing, working outside and spending time with her friends and family. She especially loved the family gatherings down the hill. She was a fluent speaker of the Cherokee language and proud follower of Keetoowah religion and practices as well as a member of Stokes Smith Stompground. Her smile and laughter will be missed.

Survivors are one sister, Geneva Collins and Rodney of Park Hill, OK; one brother, Tommy Grass and Geneva of Vian, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews and close family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary James; nieces, Jo Ejog Grass, Sheila Sequichie and Natasha Harbin; nephew, Brett “Butch” James and grandmother, Lucy Nooyah Backwater Grass.

Active Pallbearers will be Uriah Grass, Yonsi Grass, Tommy Blue James, Stryker Fields, Michael Holcomb and Lyndon Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Leo Grass, Tommy Grass and William Tomah.

Viewing will be 10 am – 8 pm Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm.
