Betty Lou (Clayton) Nuckolls

October 21, 1925 — November 22, 2019

Betty Lou Nuckolls age 94, passed away peacefully, November 22, 2019, at her son’s home. She was born October 21, 1925 in Vian, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, Richard Allen Nuckolls, sisters; Mary Mathews, Hattie Edwards, Wilma Shine, and Nancy Clayton, son-in-law Terry Kizzia, grandson Dean Kizzia, granddaughter Jennifer Stewart , and great granddaughter Mayson Jaye Kizzia.

“Granny” or “Ms. Betty” as she was known by an entire community, loved to love on people and her flowers. She shared her love with food for anyone and everyone who walked through her doors. Her first question to you was always, “How are you?” followed immediately by, “Are you hungry…..can I fix you something to eat?” Ms. Betty was a dedicated Christian mother and grandmother first and foremost. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh and feel loved.

Mrs. Nuckolls leaves behind four daughters; Sheila Kizzia, Lu Ann Stewart and husband Jeff, Nancy Chandler, and Donna Gann, and one son Richard Nuckolls and wife Neela, 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Also left to miss her are two sisters; Irene Lauducci and Imogene Spievak and brother, Cecil Clayton and wife Elizabeth, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and their families. Besides her family, she will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by her First Baptist Church family, who she cherished, as well as anyone and everyone whose life she ever touched.

The best way I know to explain my mother’s life is with a scripture from the book which she relied on to guide her path. Ephesians 4:32, “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

Viewing will be 10 am – 8 pm on Monday, November 25, at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw OK. Pallbearers will be grandsons; Jamie Kizzia, Tucker Kizzia, Mike Kizzia, Garrett Kizzia, Sam Nuckolls, Kevin Chandler, Dalton Gann and Dylan Nuckolls. Please join us in celebrating Mrs. Nuckolls’ life on Tuesday, November 26, at the Gore First Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, OK under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home, Inc.
