Beverly H. Colston, age 78, of Roland, Oklahoma, passed away on November 30, 2024 in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Cremation services are under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Born on August 2, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, Beverly was the daughter of Dorothy Jane (Knudson) Hunter and Charles Wallace Hunter. Throughout her life, she demonstrated a deep commitment to education and was known for her pioneering spirit as the first woman to obtain tenure at the University of Arkansas. Beverly was dedicated to teaching students of all ages, including those with special needs, showcasing her unwavering compassion and dedication to her students.
In addition to her accomplishments in education, Beverly had a remarkable talent for sewing, knitting, and fashion design, reflecting her creativity and passion for the arts. She was truly a kind, intelligent, and talented individual, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Beverly is survived by her two daughters, Dori Colston and wife Natalie Wallace of Barling, AR, and Stacy Colston of Booneville, AR; one son, Neal Colston and wife Katia of Cave Springs, AR; two grandchildren, Paisley Colston and Alexandra Williams; as well as several other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Wally Hunter, and her husband, David Thornburg.
Beverly's legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
