Billie (Shorter) Armer, age 86, of the Short community in Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on February 12, 2025, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Born on December 29, 1938, in Clinton, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Estalene (Browning) Shorter and Darrell Desmond Shorter. Billie was united in marriage to L.G. Armer on August 16, 1957, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who preceded her in death on January 7, 2021.
Billie worked at GNB Battery and remained a devoted member of Short Baptist Church, where she nurtured many friendships and shared her faith.
Billie is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Glenda Fink and husband Kent of Hulbert, Oklahoma; her son, Larry Armer and wife Denise of Short, Oklahoma; along with five cherished grandchildren: Craig Alexander of Stilwell, Oklahoma; Dustin Alexander and Amanda of Stilwell, Oklahoma; Lacey Armer of Henderson, Nevada; Kayla Sockey and husband Joshua of Durant, Oklahoma; and Shaina Armer of Short, Oklahoma. She was also a proud grandmother to seven great-grandchildren: Rylee, Brandy, Kynsie, Stetson, Averie, Waylon, and Wrinley.
She will be missed by her sisters-in-law, Melvena Thurman of Rock Island, Oklahoma; Lula Bates of Rock Island, Oklahoma; Oleta Armer of Roland, Oklahoma; Tressie Long of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; Lessie Rogers of Van Buren, Arkansas; Lola Matthews of Van Buren, Arkansas; and her brother-in-law, James Armer of Short, Oklahoma, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Billie was preceded in death by her beloved husband L.G.; her granddaughter, Megan Workman; her parents; her sister, Geraldine Brown; and her brother, Frank Shorter.
A funeral service to honor Billie's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Short Baptist Church in Muldrow, Oklahoma, with burial to follow at Seabolt Cemetery in Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Active pallbearers will include Kim Armer, Joshua Sockey, Brayden Forslund, Kent Fink, Dustin Alexander, and Dallas Taylor. Friends and family may visit and pay their respects on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 10 AM to 8 PM at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, where the family will greet visitors from 6 PM to 8 PM.
