Senior Master Sergeant Bobby Gene Owens, 89, of Roland, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 in Catoosa, Oklahoma. He was born May 12, 1935 in Paw Paw, Oklahoma and was the fourth of six children born to Leonard and Pearl Owensby Owens. Bobby was a dedicated individual who exemplified commitment in his family, his career, and his service to his country.

Bobby married the love of his life, E. Mary Owens, on May 27, 1964, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with love and support until her passing on November 10, 2022. Their bond remains a cherished memory for those who knew them.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Muldrow, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign War and Muldrow VFW Post No. 8384, was a 1953 graduate of Muldrow High School, volunteered for the U.S. Army at age 18 and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He received his Bachelor and Master Degree from Northeastern State University, attended the University of Tulsa, and taught in Colorado, Missouri and Oklahoma before retiring as administrator in 1987 after serving 30 years.

Along with his school employment, he continued his military career with the 138th Tac Fighter Wing Intelligence in Tulsa, transferring to Air Force Intelligence Agency Reserve and retiring in 1992 as Senior Master Sergeant after serving 22 years. He also retired from security at Saint Francis Hospital in 1995.

Bobby is survived by his son, Patrick Owens and Cheryl of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his sister, Mildred Johnson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and his brother, Phillip Owens and Bethia of Muldrow, Oklahoma. He is also remembered by other loving relatives and friends who deeply appreciated his kindness and wisdom.

He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Mary Owens; his son, Gregory Owens; his parents, Leonard and Pearl Owens; two sisters, Margaret Lee and Geneva Wilkins; and one brother, Ted Owens. 

A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The funeral service will take place on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM at First Assembly of God Church in Muldrow, Oklahoma, with burial following at Cottonwood Cemetery, in Muldrow, Oklahoma, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Active Pallbearers will be Patrick Owens, Gene Haddock, Brad Campbell and Chris Brashear. 

Bobby Gene Owens will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, dedication to his family, and commitment to service. His legacy of kindness and love will endure in the lives he touched.
