Charlotte Ann (Cotner) Covington

March 6, 1934 — August 15, 2020

Graveside Service for Charlotte Ann (Cotner) Covington, 86, of Vian, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Dwight Mission Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on March 6, 1934 in Vian, Oklahoma (near Dwight Mission in Sequoyah County) to Ruby Dee (Young) Cotner and Charles Arthur Cotner, and passed away on August 15, 2020 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was married to Louis Dale Covington on June 5, 1953 in Van Buren, Arkansas. She retired as a loading supervisor from Ross Industries in Wichita, KS in 1982, came to Oklahoma to supervise the building of their retirement home prior to her husband’s retirement, was a housewife and of the Protestant faith. She had an encyclopedic knowledge of plants and insects and taught her children and grandchildren to appreciate nature’s beauty. She could cook for a crowd and loved big family get-togethers. She was an avid quilter and crocheter, having made beautiful keepsake quilts, tablecloths, afghans, doilies and even crocheted stuffed animals for the entire family. She was physically strong and unafraid of hard work, and she loved cattle ranching, hay baling, gardening (she grew the best watermelons and loved to have watermelon feeds), canning the amazing bounty of her garden (and gallons of wild blackberries), growing beautiful flowers, and her animals. Her hands were never idle; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her loving family.
