Cherie Elaine (Roper) Sanders

Services for Cherie Elaine Sanders, 87 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Cherie was born on October 20, 1931 in Inola, Oklahoma to Mazie Pettit Roper and John Boyd Roper and passed away on November 4, 2018 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to Ellis Butler “E.B.” Sanders on July 12, 1952 in Van Buren, Arkansas. She loved quilting, was a championship bowler, seamstress, and loved camping and reading. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw and was one of the founders of the annual Thanksgiving dinner there and was also very active in United Methodist Women. She was the co-owner of Ivey’s Drug Store where she worked the front counter selling everything from makeup to ice cream. She worked for Oklahoma Welcome Center from 1994-2013.

2 daughters and 1 son in law: Jana and Jack Wright of Sallisaw, OK
and Cindy Sanders of Sallisaw, OK

1 son and daughter in law: Robert Sanders D.O and Wanda of Lavaca, AR

7 grandchildren: Cheryl Vann and husband, Shannon, Paul Sanders, Shannon Oldham and husband, Jeff, Karri Davis and husband, Greg, Kelly Wright and wife, Jennifer, Lance Rogers and wife, Elizabeth, and Brandon Rogers and wife, Donna

17 great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mazie Roper; husband, Ellis “E.B.” Sanders; and 1 brother, John Roper

Active Pallbearers will be Paul Sanders, Kelly Wright, Lance Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Nathan Vann and Reed Davis.

Honorary Pallbearers will be United Methodist Women, Lenora Skelton, James Virgil Farmer .

Viewing will be 10 am – 8 pm Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, OK. The family will greet 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
