Graveside service for Clara Nadine (Morton) Southerland, 89 of Muldrow, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Cottonwood Cemetery in Muldrow, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on August 7, 1931 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Virgie Mable (Miller) Morton and John Ernest Morton and passed away on June 30, 2021 in Van Buren, Arkansas.

Nadine spent her formative years in Muldrow with her family and friends, enjoying her time in a high school vocal group and playing on the Lady Bulldogs basketball team.

She was a local fixture in Muldrow, serving residents as a clerk for 30 years in the post office, a job she loved because she was able to engage with everyone that stopped in.

After her retirement, Nadine enjoyed traveling. She was able to visit all 50 states, and a number of countries abroad. She loved to sew, work in the yard, and make brownies for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Muldrow Church of Christ for many years and a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

Survivors are her two daughters, Kathy Smith of Van Buren, Ark., and Donna Culpepper of Santa Fe, NM; four grandchildren, Rachel Jordan of Conway, Ark., Stephanie Kaylor of Greenwood, Ark., Jackson Hunter Culpepper of Davis, CA, Addyson Culpepper of Santa Fe, NM; four great grandchildren, Malia Rodrigues, Adriana Rodrigues, Denver Kaylor, and Shailee Kaylor; sister, Virginia Click Ransom of Sallisaw; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Irene Birdwell and three brothers, Buck, Lage and Pete Morton.
