Claudie Waldrop

Graveside Service for Claudie Waldrop, 95, of Muldrow, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Claudie Waldrop was born August 21, 1926 to Arizona Belle (Aldridge) Waldrop and William Edward Waldrop in Greenwood Junction Community in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma and passed away on November 25, 2021 at his home in Muldrow, Oklahoma at the age of 95. He married Lela Audrey (Owens) Waldrop on October 21, 1944 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. They were married 77 years.

Claudie was a Christian. He was ordained a Deacon of Cottonwood Free Will Baptist Church on September 24, 1961. He loved his family, his church family and friends, but most of all he loved the Lord.

He was a retired automotive salesman for Flightline Motors in Fort Smith, Arkansas where he worked for 30 years. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was in the Philippines and Korea and was a Sergeant when he was discharged.

He was an avid Bluegrass Music fan and played music with several groups. Some of the groups were The Harmony Boys, Cottonwood Quartet, Gene Newby and the Round Mountain Boys, The Waldrop Family and many more. His music career started in the 1950’s and went until 2010.

Survivors are:

Wife, Lela of the home;

Son, Rev. Jimmy Waldrop and wife, Donna, of Muldrow, OK;

Granddaughter, Shelly (Waldrop) Faught and husband, Khay, of Alma, AR;

Grandson, Jimmy Dwayne Waldrop of Muldrow, OK;

Great-Granddaughter, Olivia (Faught) Graham and husband, Calum, of Magnolia, AR;

Sister-in-law, Fern Shackelford of Muldrow, OK;

And several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Gracie Standfill, Fannie Clark and Bessie Oliver; and two brothers, Clarence Waldrop and James Waldrop.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dwayne Waldrop, Khay Faught, Rick Stanfill, Jerry Stanfill and Wendell Giles.

Viewing and Visitation will be 8 AM – 8 PM Monday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, OK where the family will greet 4 – 6 PM.
