A memorial service celebrating the life of Dakota Preston Scott Watie-Simmons, 25, will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, Oklahoma with Pastor Lee Denton of Kibler Baptist Church – Kibler, Arkansas officiating. The family has entrusted services to Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on February 2, 1998 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Shawnon (Watie) Zelaya and passed away on June 2, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He attended Mountainburg Primary and Middle School and Bentonville High School. Dakota lived a life dedicated to his family and friends. He loved his brothers and sisters with an abiding love, wishing to bring them closer to him and each other. He was dedicated to his friends and often doing without to help them. He encouraged those around him and had a smile that could warm a heart, his love for people never failed. Most importantly, Dakota believed God and in His promises. Dakota was a member of Kibler Baptist Church in Kibler, Arkansas. Near the end of life he gained a passion for photography and enjoyed capturing the beauty in the world around him.

Survivors are siblings, including Miguel Meza, Consuelo Ruttle, Johnathan Watie, Kimberly Byrd, Braxten Espinoza, Jose Byrd, Lucy Byrd and Hollie Watie; Granny, Emily Watie; Mother, Shawnon Watie Zelaya; Aunt, Emily Muncy; Uncle, Jerry Watie, Jr.; numerous cousins; as well as Mimi and PawPaw, Debbie and Bal Simmons; and his special friends, Tru House, Austin Rose and Jennifer Wood.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Watie, Sr.
