Dale Wood, 60 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Viewing will be 6 – 8 pm Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
Dale was born on November 3, 1958 in Augusta, Arkansas to Josie and Delbert Wood. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1977. On January 21, 1984, he married the love of his life, Jana (Kissinger) Wood. Dale and Jana moved to Sallisaw, Oklahoma in 1990 where they built their home. In 1999 he received his BA in Business Administration from NSU. After working in banking for 11 years, he opened “Woody’s Diner”, fulfilling his life long dream of owning a mom & pop cafe. In 2013, he went to work at Love’s Travel Stop. Dale was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw, OK, and an active member of his community, participating in the Lion’s Club and Chamber of Commerce.
Dale was a huge fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and Sallisaw Black Diamonds. He spent his free time traveling to watch his kids and grandkids in their various activities. Dale was always there to help relatives and friends, doing whatever was needed of him. Most remembered will be his incomparable sense of humor.

grandchildren: Faith Hart and Joe of Longview, TX, Brock Pettit of Eufaula, OK, Augusta Hampton of Gilmer, TX, Trae Hampton of Gilmer, TX, Isabella Pettit of Eufaula, OK, and Montana Hampton of Gilmer, TX
great grandson: David Hart of Longview, TX
mother: Josie Wood of Augusta, AR
brothers: Gary Wood and Sue of Augusta, AR, Keith Wood and Sherry of Augusta, AR and Timmy Wood and Tina of Augusta, AR
father in law: Rudean Kissinger of Augusta, AR
numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by his father, 2 brothers: Doyle and Chris Wood and mother in law: Janice Kissinger
Active pallbearers will be Jack Wright, David Gean, Shannon Vann, Billy Clifton, Don Jones, Dan Baumann, Darwin Rea and Terry Nation.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Sallisaw to First United Methodist Church, 2100 McGee, Sallisaw, OK 74955 or the 2019 Sequoyah County flood disaster relief and in Augusta, AR to First United Methodist Church and the Woodruff County Library Foundation.
