It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Grandpa, Dan Eugene McLaughlin, Jr., who left us on November 4, 2023, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was born on August 28, 1937 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Bonnie LaJean (Jeremiah) Glass and Dan Eugene McLaughlin, Sr. Dan grew up among family and friends in Short, Oklahoma. He attended elementary school in Short and high school in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Dan was a farmer, welder, carpenter, and millwright. He was an avid basketball fan and followed his daughters’ games. Dan later enjoyed supporting his grandchildren’s sports in baseball, softball, basketball, and football. He continued to be a strong follower of the Black Diamond basketball program. He loved his animals dearly. Dan will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors are two daughters, Genia Means of Sallisaw, OK and Amy Pierce and Joel of Sallisaw, OK; one son-in-law, Mike Sharp of Sallisaw, OK; six grandchildren, Chris Sharp of Sallisaw, OK, Craig Sharp and Rachel of Fort Smith, AR, Becky Meadows and Dulaney of Sallisaw, OK, Renae Williams and Travis of Sallisaw, OK, Alex Pierce and Skyler Williams of Tampa Bay, FL, and Nick Pierce and Makenzie of Sallisaw, OK; nine great-grandchildren, Carson and London Sharp, Micha, Jadyn and RyLeigh Sharp, Alivia and Caden Meadows, Easton and Sara Williams; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Dana Sharp; one granddaughter, Gwyn Means and son-in-law, Tommy Means.
Active Pallbearers will be Chris Sharp, Craig Sharp, Nick Pierce, Travis Williams, Dulaney Meadows, Joel Pierce and Mike Sharp.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Viewing will be 10 am – 8 pm Tuesday and 10 am – 8 pm Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to Sallisaw Animal Shelter.
