Darlene Faye passed into her Heavenly Home to be with Jesus Christ on February 6, 2020 at 2:33 p.m. She was 77 years old.
She passed peacefully in her sleep with some of her family lovingly gathered around her, holding her hands, singing hymns and praying.

Darlene was born in Alba, Missouri on November 25, 1942 to Thomas Alonzo Duvall & Evelyn Mozell Dale Duvall.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother. Also preceded in death by her brother Buddy Duvall and sisters: Ruthann Plankenhorn, Asyneth Martin & Leona Huber.

Darlene grew up in a very large family and was the sixth of nine children. She was a spunky gal and as a child, she once won a new bicycle in a dog show in Garden City, Kansas. As a child in Garden City, she was the elementary orchestra’s 1st violin/Concert mistress. She turned into a lovely young lady who liked to dance and sing and tell stories. Darlene was an avid reader, lover of song birds, hummingbirds, flowers and nature. She could play any stringed instrument and had a gift with harmony, and, she passed these abilities on to her children and grandchildren. She also took piano lessons as an adult alongside her two oldest children, Renee and Wade.

She was a devoted mother to her five children and never left them. She also helped raise one granddaughter. She loved to garage sale, collect antiques, and refinish wooden furniture. She could identify depression glass, collectibles and knew the different types of quality wood: oak, walnut, cherry and ash. She used her hands well and was an artisan who once learned how to craft sterling silver rings for her children. She could take broken watches and clocks and make them tick again. She was known to care for wounded sparrows and hummingbirds. She also allegedly once brought a chicken back to life with her tender care. She also liked to play cards with friends and board games with her children and grandchildren.

As a young adult she was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone operator in Garden City, KS for a season and later in Hays, Kansas after she was married and had children. When Darlene, husband and their children relocated to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma in 1980 from Kansas, she took a job next door to their house, to still be close to the children, where she worked for Cowboy Oilfield & Supply Co. as a secretary.

She loved her family and enjoyed laughing, talking, watching TV, and reading good books. She was known as Granny in her later years as she resided in Sallisaw, OK near her sons, one daughter and several grandchildren. She gave good gifts to everyone at Christmas time.
She has left a legacy of love and life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They will greatly miss her presence, her laugh, her chuckle, her stories and her smile. She will be missed by her many near and distant nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and all extended family.
