Funeral Service for David H. Terry, 74, of Roland, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 17, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Roland, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Roland City Cemetery in Roland, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
David was born January 23, 1951 to the late Ruford and Hilda (Gattis) Terry of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He entered the gates of Heaven on March 11, 2025.
David was a 1969 graduate of Northside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and was a proud member of the 1967-68 and 1968-69 state champion Grizzly football teams. He fondly remembered and talked often about his teammates and coaches that shared those memories. After graduating from Northside High School in 1969, he attended Arkansas Tech University. He married his wife, Vickie (Jones) Terry on November 6, 1976. David was an avid hunter and fisherman, and truly loved being outdoors. Although he lived with an OU Sooner family, his love for the Arkansas Razorbacks never faltered.
David was in the trucking industry his entire adult life. He was employed by Fine Truck Line for ten years as a rate specialist, and then retired from Arkansas Best Freight in 2017, after thirty-five years as a rate specialist and in management positions.
David's love for sports and the outdoors was second by far to the love and devotion he had for his family. He leaves behind his wife, Vickie of 48 years; two daughters, Rachel and husband CW Blood of Roland, OK and Brittany and husband Todd Fisher of Muldrow, OK; one beloved granddaughter, Sylvia (Violet) Shepard of Maumelle, Arkansas; one sister, Deanna Dysart of Moore, OK; his sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Randy Martin of Edmond, OK; as well as much loved nieces, and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Bob Dysart; and his father and mother-in-law, Jimmie and Carol Jones of Roland.
Active Pallbearers will be Randy Martin, Troy Sanstra, Wayne Childers, Todd Fisher and CW Blood.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Wilson, Darrell Metcalf, Donnie Bamburg, and Jimmy Bruso.
Viewing will be 2 - 8 PM Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, OK where the family will greet 4 - 6 PM.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sherri, Amber, Shelly, Gus, and Paige from Heart of Hospice for their extraordinary care and compassion.
