Deborah Lunell Stewart

Deborah Lunell Stewart, a beloved educator and cherished family member, passed away on February 6, 2025, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, at the age of 72. She was born on October 2, 1952, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Rebecca Lunell (Henderson) Ferren and Elga Louis Ferren.

Debbie's life was marked by her dedication to education as she devoted much of her career to being a special education teacher. She touched many lives during her time at Paoli, Pauls Valley, Moore, and Bristow Public Schools. After years of service, she concluded her professional journey at the 5 Star Inter-Local Coop in Cushing, Oklahoma, leaving a legacy of commitment and compassion for her students and colleagues alike.

On July 5, 1984, Debbie married Michael Stewart in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Together, they built a home filled with joy and support.

In addition to her husband, Michael, Debbie is survived by her step-son, Ryan Stewart and Chelsea, residing in Stroud, Oklahoma. She was also the proud grandmother of three grandchildren: Augustus Stewart, Samantha Stewart, and Casey Stewart, all of Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Her family also includes her sister, Lisa Bonar and Chris of Euless, Texas, along with three nephews: Ian, Garrett, and Brandon Bonar, all of Euless, Texas. Debbie cherished her role as a family member and took great joy in the moments spent with her loved ones.

Outside of her professional accomplishments, Debbie enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought her happiness. She loved playing tennis, tending to her garden, and sewing, activities which reflected her creative spirit and her love for the outdoors.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Rebecca Lunell (Henderson) Ferren and Elga Louis Ferren.

A cremation service is being held under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. As we remember Deborah Lunell Stewart, we celebrate her life, her contributions, and the lasting impact she made on those around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
