Funeral Service for Dennis Hoss Wood, 93, of Roland, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Roland, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Roland City Cemetery in Roland, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Funeral Service for Dennis Hoss Wood, 93, of Roland, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Roland, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Roland City Cemetery in Roland, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on May 24, 1927 in Roland, Oklahoma to Choral (Smith) Wood and Robert L. Wood, Sr. and passed away on February 2, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was married to Dorothy Mae “Dokey” Wood on September 2, 1942 in Van Buren, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on August 14, 1996. Mr. Wood was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII where he served in the 1st Cavalry. He was a burning foreman for ACME Brick for 42 years, a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Roland and loved gardening. “Paps” was a Godly man, kind and generous, and never spoke a cruel word toward anyone.

Survivors are:

daughter and son-in-law: Leslie Griffin and Mat of Roland, OK;

2 sons and one daughter-in-law: Dennis “Rick” Wood of Alma, AR and Randy Wood and Carol of Sallisaw, OK;

2 grandchildren: Jordan Wood Riggs of Sallisaw, OK and Eric Kalen Griffin of Roland, OK;

3 great-grandchildren: Elijah Riggs, Noah Riggs and Josiah Riggs;

1 brother: Tex Wood and Darlene of Sallisaw, OK;

other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one brother, Gene Wood; and his sister, Helen Rogers.

Active Pallbearers will be Dennis Rogers, Monte Wood, Adam Wood, Casey Hicks, Eddie George, Ray Watts, Eddie Hicks and Heath Wood.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Wofford, Stan George, Danny Gardner, Scott Gardner and Mickey Rogers.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, OK.
