Don Smithson

Graveside Service for Don Smithson, 75, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Fleetwood Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahom under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on April 27, 1944 in Notchietown community, Oklahoma to Anna Doris (Sumpter) Smithson and W. A. Smithson and passed away on January 29, 2020 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He married Wanda “Tooter” (Jiles) Smithson on June 12, 1964 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was a retired Superintendent for the Oklahoma State Department of Transportation and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are:

wife: Wanda “Tooter” of the home;

2 daughters: Gwen Ray and Keith of Checotah, OK and Janna Philpot and Mike of Sallisaw, OK;

1 son: Greg Smithson of Sallisaw, OK;

8 grandchildren: Ashley Pharaoh, Greg Ray, Cody Smithson, Lacy Smithson, Tyler Philpot, Kayla Philpot, John Philpot and Hannah Philpot;

3 great-grandchildren: Katherine, James, Gentry and 1 on the way;

2 sisters: Cheryl Mills and Wendell of Sallisaw, OK and Pam Crutchfield and Rick of Sallisaw, OK;

1 brother: Glen “Bud” Smithson and Annette of Sallisaw, OK;

numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Active Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM.
