Donald Lee Pruitt, 85, passed away peacefully at home on November 25, 2023 with his children and hospice care in Lewisville, Texas. Donald was born January 19, 1938, to the late Ivey and Opal Lee (Craighead) Pruitt in Blackgum, Oklahoma.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Ann Louise Rand of Houston, TX; son, Corey Edward Pruitt of Lewisville, TX; two grandsons, Colson and Garrett Rand of Dallas, TX; one sister, Dorothy (Pruitt) Davis, (Tommy) of Vian, OK; one brother, Loye Dale Pruitt of Vian, OK; and many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Donald married his high school sweetheart, Linda Ruth (Ruthie) Marrs on December 31, 1960, in Vian, Oklahoma. They moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he worked for Ford Motor Company. In 1961, he was drafted into the army and they moved to White Sands, New Mexico for 6 months before Donald was sent to Korea for a year. Once back from Korea, Donald moved back to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma until the Ford Motor Company plant closed. He transferred to Dallas, Texas in 1967 and retired after 40 years with Ford Motor Company.
Donald had a love and devotion for his family and friends. He loved tinkering with cars, coaching his son’s soccer team, dancing, making walking canes, and traveling. He spent his 20 plus years of retirement enjoying and spoiling his grandsons.
Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda Ruth (Marrs) Pruitt; his parents, Ivey and Opal Lee (Craighead) Pruitt; brothers, Troy Pruitt, Carl Pruitt, Jimmy Pruitt, George Pruitt; sisters Lucille Pruitt Thompson, Lois Pruitt Bervel, Bess Pruitt, Pearl Pruitt McDonald.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 from 4 – 7 pm at the Agent Mallory Martin Chapel, 123 S. Wheeler Ave, Sallisaw, OK 74955.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Vian United Methodist Church, at the corner of West Lee Street & South Blackstone Street in Vian, Oklahoma where lunch will be served at noon. Burial will follow the service at Box Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Active Pallbearers will be Corey Pruitt, Colson Rand, Garrett Rand, Scott Pruitt and Ronnie Summerlin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Davis and Loyd Dale Pruitt.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Colon Cancer Research, your local animal shelter, or your favorite charity.
