Dorothy Sue (Still) Powell

Funeral service for Dorothy Sue (Still) Powell, 83 of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at First Assembly of God Church in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Gore Cemetery in Gore, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Dorothy was born on May 3,1940 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and passed away on May 12, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

She attended Bell and Webbers Falls School, graduating in 1960.

Growing up with Cherokee as her first language inspired Dorothy to want to teach others. She began teaching classes in 2010 for Cherokee Nation. Those classes were held in Porum, Ft Gibson and Webbers Falls. She taught numerous people the Cherokee Language for fifteen years before retiring.

Dorothy married the love of her life, Sidney Powell on June 3,1961. They enjoyed spending their time together fishing, watching westerns, and working in their garden. When she wasn’t looking for yard sales, Dorothy was collecting cook books, going to bingo, picking wild onions, or spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Sidney Powell of the home; son, Allen and Amanda Powell; daughter n law, Robyn Rodgers; grandchildren, Chase and Brittney Powell, Brittney and Ty Sanders, Alex and Paula Powell, Tyler Wooten, Casey and Ethan Quick, Alisha Vath, Celeste Reaves, Tatum Powell, Waylon Wooten, Stefanie Powell and Lyncoln Sanders; her sisters, Cherokee Still, Shirley and Tom Sutton, Fredia Vann, Jerry Lynn and Geno Buchanan and Katie and Jim Taylor; along with an abundance of great-grandchildren, nieces,nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tobe and Violet Still; brother, “Big” John Still; son, Patrick Powell; and grandsons, Hunter Reaves, Sidney Jay Powell, Talon Summerlin and Patrick Lee Powell.

Active pallbearers will be Alex Powell, Allan Powell, Tyler Wooten, Chase Powell, Jaykob Taylor and Jonathan Bray.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Taylor, Tom Sutton, Geno Buchanan and L.D. Clay.
