Funeral service for Edward “Chief” Elbon, 75 of Vian, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Vian, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on August 5, 1946 in Buckhannon, West Virginia to Wilma Mae (Ritter) Elbon and John Jonas Elbon and passed away on August 6, 2021 in Vian, Oklahoma. He was married to Joanne (Simon) Elbon on December 4, 1963 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2017. He worked at Sequoyah Fuels, was the owner and operator of a convenience store and was a volunteer firefighter.

Survivors are:

Daughter: Dana Elbon of Vian, OK;

Son and Daughter-in-Law: Jason and Lisa Elbon of Vian, OK;

2 Grandchildren: Adrianna Faith Elbon of Tulsa, OK and Addison Grace Elbon and fiancé Nolan Sturgeon of Tulsa, OK;

3 Sisters and Brothers-in-Law: Betty and Donald Robertson of Box Community, OK, Wanda and Kenneth Harris of Muldrow, OK and Freda and Frank Lincoln, Jr. of Vian, OK;

Half-Sister: Nellie Wilson of Weston, West Virginia;

1 Brother: Bryon Scott Elbon of Vian, OK;

Brother-in-Law: Bob Nicholson of Morgantown, West Virginia;

Uncles and Aunts: Lyn and Faye Ritter of Owasso, OK, Jerald and Lola Ritter of Vian, OK and Jean Elbon Masters of Chapin, South Carolina;

Nieces: Laura Nunnery, Gina Powers, Krala Smith, Alia Walker, Whitney Pack, Tia Lincoln, Malarie Mendenhall, Katie Durham and Bobbie Panetelone;

Nephews: Craig Robertson, Micah Harris, Travis Pack, Bryson Elbon and John Nicholson;

Numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandparents, Grover Cleveland Elbon and Premelia Elizabeth Simmons Elbon, and Albert “Birch” Ritter and Lela Ethel McFarland Ritter; one brother, Larry Noble Elbon; two stillborn brothers; one half-sister, Shirley Nicholson; two nephews, David Nicholson and Brian Nicholson; and a special cousin, Bert Elbon.

Active Pallbearers will be Joe Paul Simon, Jerry Simon, Scott Elbon, Bryson Elbon, Donald Robertson and Kenneth Harris.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Brockman, Ed Brockman, Fowler Sheffield, Sonny Wilson, Robert Jones, Larry Smith, Joe Gordon, Danny Williams, Bill Smith, Denny Houston and The Buttery Brothers.

Viewing will be Noon – 8 PM Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM.
