Emma Frances (Pope) Wood

On Friday, December 18, 2020, Emma Frances Wood, loving wife, and mother of three children, passed away in Searcy, Arkansas, having attained the age of 88.

Frances, Mom, Mimmie was born on May 29, 1932 in Nashville, Arkansas to J.M. and Marie Pope. Frances married Donald Ross Wood on March 5, 1950, and from this union they reared three children, Cathy, Danny and Michael.

Don and Frances served several congregations of the Church of Christ and lived in several different cities over the years. Frances loved teaching Bible classes for the young, and would do whatever needed to be done to help the church grow. Frances was known as one who would give encouragement, and be there with a compassionate heart whenever there was a need.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Wood, brother Don Pope, sister Connie Ruth (Deapo) Smith, grandson Jason, and daughter Cathy Ward.

Frances is survived by her brother David Pope; sons, Danny Wood (Cathy) and Michael Wood; eight grandchildren, Jeff Ward, Kristen Cowart, Tony Ward, Phillip Wood, Kayla Wood, Josh Wood, Ross Wood, Emilee Wood; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Church of Christ in Roland, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Roland City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home.
