Ernestine (Rogers) Pigeon, age 85, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on January 28, 2025. Born on March 8, 1939, in Gans, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Edith (Foyil) Rogers and Ernest Sid Rogers.
Ernestine had a career as a retired ambulance service dispatcher, but her main job was being mom and nanny. Her contributions were deeply respected by those she worked alongside, and her life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to helping others. She was of the Pentecostal faith, drawing strength and comfort from her beliefs throughout her life.
She is survived by her two daughters, Stacie Weaver and Mike, and Michelle Jones and Marty, all of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; her granddaughter, Tia Godfrey and Spencer of Mustang, Oklahoma; her sister, Kaye Shamblin, also of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; along with several other relatives and friends.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters: Mildred Springwater, Ruth Kennedy, and Imogene Fields.
A Memorial Gathering in her honor will take place on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. During this time, family and friends will have the opportunity to greet one another and celebrate the rich and fulfilling life of Ernestine. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
