Funeral service for Ethel McGowan, 91 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on March 7, 1929 in Gore, Oklahoma to Etter Bell Burris and Buddy Burris and passed away on June 26, 2020 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to Raymond Earl McGowan Jr. on September 6, 1955 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. Mrs. McGowan was a homemaker

Survivors are:

5 daughters: Ethel Sherrill and Stephen of Greenwood, AR, Rose Mary Lawler of San Angelo, TX, Sharon Abrams and Charles of Sanger, TX, Sue Jenkins McCoy and J.D. Barrow of Sallisaw, OK and Lisa Russell and Brad of Waxahachie, TX;

3 sons: J.D. Atkerson and Betty of Roland, OK, Bill Atkerson and Jewell of San Angelo, TX and Sherman McGowan of Sallisaw, OK;

20 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren;

1 sister: Mary Whiten of Connors, GA;

4 brothers: Emmett Burris of Sapulpa, OK, Odis Burris of Sapulpa, OK, Donald Burris of Stillwater, OK and Walter Burris of Vian, OK;

several nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Raymond Earl McGowan Jr., 3 brothers: Elmer, Monroe and Roy Burris, 3 sisters: Evie Hollis, Eller Glass and Helen Ledbetter.

Active Pallbearers will be Richard Matthews, John Matthews, Steven Jenkins, Jonathan Walters, Kyle Burris and B.R. Rutherford.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Viewing will be 1 – 8 pm Monday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm.
