Evelyn E. (Sauser) Fugitt

Funeral Service for Evelyn E. (Sauser) Fugitt, 99, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Church of Christ in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on November 13, 1923 in Thayer, Missouri to Pearl Elizabeth (Dunsmore) Sauser and Ernest A. Sauser and passed away on August 14, 2023 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to Mr. George R. Fugitt on December 22, 1946 in Thayer, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2004. She was well-known for her sewing and quilting skills. Evelyn’s cooking ability was renowned by her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was a lifelong member of Church of Christ in Sallisaw.

Survivors are children, Gail Isabel (Fugitt) Fine of Sallisaw, OK and Robert William Fugitt and Rosalie of Roswell, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Lori Smith and Tye, Brent Fine and Brandi, Derek Fine and Lindsey, Nicholas Fugitt and Kayla, and Alyssa Rogers and Mac; 11 great-grandchildren, Sheldon Smith, Bailey Londagin and Spencer, Gracee Fine, Parker Fine, Taden Fine, Asa Fugitt, Phoenix Fine, Luna Fine, Freyja Fine, Lee Rogers and Eric Rogers; siblings, Walter Sauser of Jonesboro, AR and Pearl Elizabeth (Sauser) Minton of Bono, AR; other relatives and friends; and especially her quilting friends, The Piecemakers, from church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Grace Anthem (Sauser) Mainprize; and her son-in-law, Michael Fine.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Brent Fine, Derek Fine, Tye Smith, Sheldon Smith, Spencer Londagin, Nicholas Fugitt, Parker Fine and Taden Fine.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
