Freda (Farris) Hunter

Freda (Farris) Hunter, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born on February 12, 1945, in Myron, Arkansas, to the late Mary Leota (Crouch) Farris and Henry William Farris. 

Freda's life was marked by her devotion to family and her role as a homemaker. She was united in marriage to Rev. Raymond Arthur Hunter on December 24, 1993, in Marble City, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2004.

She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Downing and Tom, of Marble City, Oklahoma; two brothers, Arbrie Farris and Janice of Marble City, Oklahoma, and Leroy Farris and Kathy of Bunch, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Raymond Arthur Hunter; her parents; one sister, Ruth Farris; and three brothers, Alvie, Joel, and Paul Farris.

Funeral Service for Freda (Farris) Hunter will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Brushy Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Active Pallbearers will include Timothy Farris, Thomas Farris, Tommy W. Downing, Terry Downing, Aaron Farris, and Ryan Farris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Anthony Farris and all of Freda’s nephews, who will honor her memory as they gather in remembrance of her life.
