Gayle Fern (Mccoy) Rothers

Services for Gayle Rothers, 73 of Vian, OK will be at 2:00pm on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Blackgum Baptist Church in Vian, OK. Burial will follow at McCoy Evening Shade in Vian, OK under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on December 18, 1944 in Vian, OK to Lucy (Girty) McCoy and Jimmie McCoy and passed away on May 21, 2018 in Vian, Oklahoma. She was married to Darrell Keith Rothers on October 9, 1969. Gayle was a lifelong resident of Evening Shade, OK. She graduated from Vian High School in 1962. Gayle worked at Cherokee Nation for 13 years as a cook at the Evening Shade Community Center and was known as one of the best cooks in Sequoyah County. She was an avid garage sale fanatic, and loved a bargain anywhere she could find one. With a heart so full of love, she was a mother to many neighbors, friends, and foster children. Gayle cherished her time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors are:

2 daughters and sons in law: Lucinda and Jon Washington of Vian, OK and
Terri and Brian Haith of Fremont, NE

2 sons and 1 daughter in law: JC and Jeannette Rothers of Claremore, OK and
Greg Rothers of Muldrow, OK

11 grandchildren: Alissa, Alia, Abigayle, Margaret, Kirstin, Shelby, JC Jr., Coty, Kyle, Johnathon and Dusty

6 great grandchildren

1 brother: Jim “Hooksie” Mackerelle of Keefton, OK

several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Darrell Rothers, 1 son: Joseph Wayne Rothers,
and 1 grandson: Shawn Rothers 2 brothers: JC McCoy and Jimmie McCoy Jr. sister: Elsie Mullen

Active Pallbearers will be Calvin McCoy, Melvin McCoy, Marvin McCoy, George McCoy, Mack White and Don McCoy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry McCoy, Aaron Noisey, Jonathan Washington, Coty Pavey, and JC Rothers, Jr.

Viewing will be Thursday 2 – 8 pm at her home.
