Graveside Service for Geneva P. (Looper) Compton, 94, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
She was born on October 19, 1925 in Greenwood, Arkansas to Hattie Myrtle (Jones) Looper and Vernon Clifford Looper and passed away on August 20, 2020 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was married to Walter Calvin Compton on December 12, 1941 in Greenwood, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1996. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers and was a lifelong caregiver. In 2009 Geneva was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Commendation Certificate and was also awarded the Above and Beyond Personal Care Assistant Award from the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
Survivors are:
1 daughter: Merlyn Wickett of Muldrow, OK;
2 sons: Vernon Compton of Sallisaw, OK and Lee Compton and wife, Dena, of Norman, OK;
8 grandchildren: Kenneth Green and wife, Cindy, Sarah Coleman and husband, Marc, William Compton and wife, Karla, Eric Compton and wife, Dawn, Laura Compton and husband, Antonio Ulloa, Chris Compton, Camielle Compton and Sage Sheldon;
numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Betty Lenington; one sister, Hazel Mathis; and one brother, Vernon Looper.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Green, Marc Coleman, John Lenington and Scott Fallen.
Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Monday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
