Geneva Pearlene (Caughman) Henry

Graveside service for Geneva Pearlene (Caughman) Henry, 89 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born August 9, 1933 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to J.E. and Sylvia Caughman and entered into Heaven on May 8, 2023 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years and 9 months. Geneva was lovingly called Gink by her family. She was one of twelve children and she loved spending time with her siblings and their families. She often talked about her brothers and sisters and was quick to show pictures of her nieces and nephews. She was very proud of them all. Family was very important to her.

She married Billy Carrol Henry on November 28, 1980. Geneva never had children of her own but loved her step-children and grandchildren as if they were hers. She became that typical grandparent. There were no rules when it came to the grandkids. They were allowed to jump on the bed like it was a trampoline and she loved to buy bubble bath for them and if the bubbles and water ran over into the floor, she would just say, “That’s okay”. She always kept a dresser drawer full of toys, coloring books, bubbles, movies, and whatever else she thought they might like. It didn’t take much persuasion for her to color or blow bubbles with them. When her and her husband lived out on the creek she would take the grandkids to “the falls” to play in the water. She was the best Memaw ever!

She was also the best stepmom ever. If she was needed to help or babysit at any time, she was there. She would show up early to the grandchildren’s birthday parties to get them dressed, finish decorating, or help with food. Christmas was something we always looked forward to. Gumdrop cookies, fudge, and the best divinity that could be made.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, John, Bob, Jody, James, and Charles (Chock) Caughman and sisters, Wanda Hartley and Lahoma Dotson.

She is survived by stepson, Phil and wife Laura Henry of Sallisaw and stepdaughters, Sherrel Henry of Sallisaw and Sheila and husband Mack Crittenden of Stilwell; her grandchildren, Chanisty Henry and Sidney Henry of Sallisaw, Shawnda Wear and husband Jonathan of Van Buren, AR, Mackenna Vanderheiden and husband Nathan of Centerton, AR, and Mackaylee Crittenden of Stilwell; great-grandchildren, Joshton Henry, Brendon Copeland, Madicynn Keaton, Grant Wear and wife Lydia, Emilee Wear, and Ellie Vanderheiden; brothers, Wayne Caughman, Jack and wife, Pam Caughman, Lyndell and wife, Jill Caughman; one sister, Brenda McDaniel and husband Jack; and many nieces, nephews, friends and church family.

Viewing will be 1- 8 pm Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
