Funeral Mass for George B. Jones, 83, of Muldrow, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Blackjack Cemetery in Muldrow, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
George was born on January 22, 1940 in Muldrow, Oklahoma to Grace Lenora McGehee and passed away on April 10, 2023 in Muldrow, Oklahoma. He was the oldest of four sons who were raised by a single mother, who instilled in him a work ethic like none other. He was a self-made man starting with his paper route as a teenager. He graduated from Muldrow Public Schools in 1958 having been voted Class President by his fellow classmates. He was married to Catherine (Koch) Jones on December 1, 1962 in Scranton, Arkansas. George was a pillar of the community of Muldrow. He was a member of the Muldrow Town Council, member and President of Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Muldrow Youth Club, Quarterback Club and the Blackjack Cemetery Board. He was the founder of the Muldrow Youth Football and was a willing hand with any project or person in need. George was a lifelong entrepreneur and started numerous businesses including grocery stores, a laundry mat, vending machine supply company, portable sign company, portable toilet company, and arcade rental business. However, George’s greatest accomplishment was his family and the pride he took supporting his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers, Rosemary Lawson, Premier Care, Renee Rogers, Elara Caring Hospice and Shirley, Gwen, Penny and Michelle.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Catherine of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim Jones and Gina of Muldrow, OK; one daughter and son-in-law, Georganna Calvillo and Joe of Muldrow, OK; five grandchildren, William Jones and Crystal of Barling, AR, Nicholas Jones of Washington, D.C., Elizabeth Dunlap and Joe of Muldrow, OK, Alan Wickett of Muldrow, OK and Antonio Calvillo of Muldrow, OK; three step-grandchildren, Joey, Austin and Nikki Calvillo; four great-grandchildren, Wade, James, Jacob and Davis; three step-grandchildren, Stephen, Harrison and Bennett; two brothers, Dave Lee and Arlene of Muldrow, OK and Buddy McGehee and Janet of Ecuador; and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother; one brother, Sammy McGehee; and one grandson, Jonathan Jones.
Active Pallbearers will be William Jones, Nicholas Jones, Antonio Calvillo, Kenny Sharp, Darren Keith, Jim Ragsdale, David Lee and Gary Schluterman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be James Nelson, Gary Grimes, Amy Grimes, Charles Click, Marilyn Click, David Ollard, Duvalla Ollard, Rhonda Hamm, James Treat and Jerry Green.
Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, OK where the family will greet 5 – 7 PM with a rosary service to follow at 7 PM.
