George McCoy

Graveside Service for George McCoy, 81 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on March 26, 1943 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Ada (Fixin) McCoy and Lee McCoy and passed away on November 27, 2024 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Mr. McCoy was a tribal member of The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians. After completing his education at Marble City, he went on to Sallisaw High School, but finished his senior year at Haskell Institute in Lawrence, KS. He joined the U.S. Army and served his country in Vietnam. Upon his return from the war, he began working at Whirlpool in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Later, he was employed by Kansas City Southern Railroad. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Kansas City Chiefs and anything involving time with his brothers.

Survivors are loving companion, Joyce Ann Wells of the home; two sons, Tim McCoy and Jackie of Stilwell, OK and James McCoy; eight grandchildren, Traven McCoy, Rodney McCoy, Brooke McCoy, Ora McCoy, Narci Che Karnes, Anissa Brean Lott, Gracie James McCoy and Alec Justin McCoy; nine great-grandchildren, Saylor Karnes, Colt Lott, Casey Twist, Bady Lee Twist, Jacob Smith, Jaden Smith, Cash Smith, Fisher Smith and Hesten Smith; two brothers, Calvin Lee McCoy of Tahlequah, OK and Marvin McCoy of Marble City, OK; nine nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melvin T. McCoy and one nephew, Keith McCoy;

Viewing will be noon - 8 PM Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet 6 - 8 PM.
