Funeral Service for Glenna E. (Foster) Smith, 93, of Vian, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Redbird Burial Grounds in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on September 19, 1929 in Sheep Springs, New Mexico on the Navajo Reservation to Mary (Dentzo) Foster and Fred Foster and passed away on October 11, 2022 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She grew up in the desert and mountains, farming and ranching, with her family. She attended school and graduated in 1950. She left the reservation seeking further education in Lawton, Oklahoma. She completed the LPN program, married Crosslin Fields Smith, on August 1, 1954, and began practice at W.W. Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Crosslin and Glenna had five children and settled in Tahlequah. At Hastings, she assisted in the delivery of a multitude of Cherokee citizens while working in the obstetrics ward. Through the years, she worked the graveyard shift, raised a family and accumulated 35 years of service to I.H.S.

Survivors are husband of 68 years, Crosslin Fields Smith of the home;

three daughters, Geraldine Smith of Tahlequah, OK, Caroline Glenn of Porter, OK and Catherine Smith of Vian, OK;

two sons, Crosslin Smith, Jr. and Leslie of Muldrow, OK and Stokes Smith of Vian, OK;

four grandchildren, Michelle Glenn-Cole and Ben of Porter, OK, Lilah Jones and David of Bartlesville, OK, Sarah Glenn-McCollough and Jarrod of Jenks, OK and Kellie Smith of Tulsa, OK;

six great-grandchildren, Jackson Cole, Blake Cole, Sophie Lancaster, Bella Lancaster, Emma McCollough and Edie McCollough;

one sister, Flossie Silversmith of Window Rock, AZ;

and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded by her parents; three sisters, Glady Bitsoie, Louise Joe and Rosie Begay; and one brother, Larry Foster.

Active Pallbearers will be Melvin Foster, Jr., Stoke Smith, Jackson Cole, Blake Cole, Clint Caroll, Dale Foster and Sammy Eagle.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jarod McAuliff, Ben Cole, Crosslin Smith, Jr. and Melvin Foster.

Viewing will be Noon – 8 PM Wednesday and 10 AM – 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM Thursday.
