Gordon Dean Nichols, Jr.

Gordon Dean Nichols, Jr., age 49, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on January 28, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on February 11, 1975, in Yuba City, California, the son of Margie Marie (Morton) Whitfield and Gordon Dean Nichols, Sr.

Gordon was united in marriage to Shannon (Cartwright) Nichols on December 16, 2021, in Alma, Arkansas. He dedicated his life to his work as a truck driver, a profession that kept him connected to the open road and allowed him to share stories of his journeys.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shannon, as well as his eight children: Chance Gagliano and Koey of Alma, AR; Tommy McGeehee and Brittany of Norfolk, VA; Cody Gagliano and Shylow of Mount Belvieu, TX; Shyann Robbins and Lonnie of Fort Smith, AR; Gordon Nichols, III of Mount Belvieu, TX; Scarlette Nichols of Van Buren, AR; Cheyenne Ferguson and Blayde of Gore, OK; and Jaycee Hanshew of Sallisaw, OK.

Gordon was also grandfather to 15 grandchildren: Berkley, Gracie, River, Dixie, Mackenzie, Paisley, Charles Dean, Shane, Peyton, Charly, Lonnie III, MaeLynn, Howie, Rowdy, and Tate.

He is remembered fondly by his four sisters: Melissa Cummins and Lester of Van Buren, AR; Doris Jones and Bill of Cedarville, AR; Susan Garrett and Rodney of Olive Hurst, CA; and Pamela Nichols of Yuba City, CA. Additionally, Gordon is survived by three brothers: Dewayne Nichols and Kay of Arlington, TX; David Nichols of Sutter, CA; and Donnie Garrett and Becky of Van Buren, AR; his best friend, Troy Emberton of Fort Smith, AR, along with numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Dean Nichols, Sr and Margie and Ray Whitfield and two brothers, Denny Ray Garrett and Michael Dean Nichols.

Cremation will be handled under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
