Obituaries

Funeral Service for J.T. Summerlin, 82, of Gore, Oklahoma will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Gore, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on January 5, 1941 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Oma (Mannon) Smith and G.W. Summerlin and passed away on May 30, 2023 in Gore, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. J.T. worked at the Methodist Boys Ranch and retired from Tenkiller State Park after 27 years as a mechanic. He was well known for his musical ability. He loved bluegrass music and was a part of the original Cookson Hills Cowboys.

Survivors are two daughters, Bertie Emerson and Danny of Vian, OK and Tina Hickelheim and Kelly of Gore, OK; two sons, J.T. Summerlin and Dennette of Shawnee, OK and Jimmy Summerlin and Becky of Vian, OK; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Active Pallbearers will be Steve Carter, Darrell Brown, Bobby Brown, Jake Crum, Tanner Bare and J’Driell Easley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ryan Summerlin, Shun Summerlin, Brandon Summerlin and Jeff Emerson.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Monday at Agent Millsap Event Center in Gore, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM.
