Funeral Service for James Donald Montgomery, 87, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Round Mountain Church in Gore, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Round Mountain Cemetery in Gore, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on January 6, 1934 in Carlisle Community, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma to Zelpha (Ward) Montgomery and John Montgomery and passed away on December 12, 2021 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was married to Betty Jean (Pyles) Montgomery on December 29, 1967 in North Bend, Washington. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2020. He was an avid fisherman who loved camping and the outdoors. He was an artist and loved gardening. James was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors are:

2 Sons, Terry Montgomery of Vancouver, WA and Mark Busby of Sallisaw, OK;

2 Daughters, Beth Helsey of Indiana and Lisa Long of Sallisaw, OK;

50 Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren;

Sister, Shirley Smith of Checotah, OK;

And numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one daughter, Rhonda Kay Morgan; two sons, Jimmy Don Montgomery and Michael Busby; five brothers, Harlan, J.D., Buster, Jack and T.M. Montgomery; and two sisters, Margie Hicks and Hazel Montgomery.

Active Pallbearers will be Terry Montgomery, Mark Busby, John Weber, William Weber, Tanner Gil and Noah Cougar.

Viewing and Visitation will be 10 AM – 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM.
