James Edward Griffith

February 7, 1938 — June 12, 2019

James Edward “Buck” Griffith, 81 of Vian, Oklahoma was born on February 7, 1938 in Hodgen, Oklahoma to Jewell Irene (Davidson) Griffith and Jesse Hunter Griffith. He passed away on June 12, 2019 at his home near Vian, Oklahoma.
Buck joined the military after graduating from Fanshawe (Oklahoma) High School and served 20 years in the U.S. Army as a Tank Commander. Upon retirement, he moved back to Oklahoma. He loved to camp, fish and hunt. If there was a squirrel in a tree, he had an uncanny gift of finding it. He was an expert marksman. Through the years, he perfected grilling meats and fudge making. Kids of all ages adored him. In his younger years, he was a master at repairing bicycles for the neighborhood kids and was an accomplished small engine/lawn mower repairman. In his younger years, he loved fast cars and pickups and wouldn’t hesitate to prove just how fast his vehicle was. In his later years, he spent his time maintaining a well manicured landscape.
