James H. Smith

Funeral Service for James H. Smith, 65 of Schulter, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Vian Freewill Baptist Church in Vian, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on November 23, 1956 in Vian, Oklahoma to Willie Mae (Gritts) Smith and Heaver Smith and passed away on December 7, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He met the love of his life, Mary Nell Ciambella in February 1987 and they married on June 11, 1990 in Montgomery County, Tennessee. Mr. Smith attended school at Vian where he played sports. After graduation, he attended Haskell Indian University and played football. He joined the United States Marine Corps and was a true “Semper Fi”. He was very proud of being a Marine. He received his welding diploma from Bacone College and continued his work of being a “jack of all trades”, including bridge construction, concrete finisher and an asbestos abator for over 30 years. He loved to play pool and made a lot of friends, but not a lot of money. James was a family man and loved his family very much. He raised many children and was always willing to take in family. His greatest joy was his niece, Kara, whom he considered his own. She was the apple of his eye and his pride and joy. His biggest wish was to see his family grow but unfortunately his time was cut short. He loved to smile and tease, never met a stranger and left many fond memories for his family and friends.

Survivors are:

Wife: Mary of the home;

Children: Kara Harvell, Zachary Harvell, Jason Smith, Breona Harvell and Brooklyn Harvell;

1 step daughter

2 step sons

9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren;

Other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 sisters: Judy, Ruby, Mary Ellen, Alice, Narcie Ann, Sally, Twaye and Faye, 2 brothers: Squam and Epsom, a step-son, nephews and a great niece

Active Pallbearers will be Tim Reason, Ronnie Baldwin, Gary Brown, Lenny Stahl, Moe Smith and Jason Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Zachery Harvell, Joe Bob Stahl, Michael Webber, Joe Willie Stevenson, Chris Kickapoo, Daniel Walters, David Glover, Tryton, Mack, Landon Shepherd, Marcus Birdtail, Daniel Bear and a host of family and friends..

Viewing and visitation will be Noon – 8 PM Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm.
