He was married to Rose Ellen (Hendrix) Sumner on December 17, 2007 in Benton County, Arkansas. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, an automotive recycler and of the Pentecostal faith.

step-children: Carl Blaker and Cynthia Blaker, both of Gore, OK;
8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren;
1 sister: Evelyn Revard of Dewey, OK;
2 brothers: Jess Sumner of Ramona, OK and Jerry Sumner of Ochelata, OK;
numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carolyn J. Sumner; three sisters, Dorothy Baker, Mildred Tayrien and Shirley Swan; and four brothers, Jake, Michael, Richard and Bill Sumner.
