Janet Lea (Richardson) Jones

Graveside Service for Janet Lea (Richardson) Jones, 72 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on October 8, 1950 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Willie Doris (Roberts) Richardson and Shelby Roy Richardson and passed away on September 13, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was married to Hobert Ray “Hobie” Jones on May 22, 1971 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2023. Mrs. Jones was a 1968 graduate of Sallisaw High School. She received her nursing degree in May 1971. She was a nurse for St. Edward’s, Sequoyah Memorial Hospital, Dr. Herndon, Dr. Nowlin and Medical Home Health. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was of the Pentecostal faith. Janet had a beautiful soprano voice and often sang at church and funerals. She loved working puzzles, reading her Bible and listening to The Gaithers and Jimmy Swaggert’s messages on Sunday morning.

Survivors are one daughter, Jennifer Jones of Sallisaw, OK; two sons, Stephen Jones and Nikki of Sallisaw, OK and Daryl Jones of Sallisaw, OK; grandchildren, Andie Jones of Sallisaw, OK, Cody Jones and Mercedes of Fort Smith, AR, Michael Jones of Sallisaw, OK and Derrick Jones of Sallisaw, OK; one great grandchild, Jamison Jones and one on the way, Tyrson Jones; two sisters, Mary Beth and Roy Fair of Sallisaw, OK and Sherri Richardson of Sallisaw, OK; caregivers, Susan Smith and Deanna Haddox; her four-legged companion, Sadie; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobie; and her parents, Doris and Shelby Richardson.

Active Pallbearers will be Stephen Jones, Daryl Jones, Michael Jones, Cody Jones, D.J. Jones, Jason Hill and Shelton Fair.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ross Blythe, Jackie Wheeler and Roy Fair.

Viewing will be 10 am – 6 pm Saturday and 2 – 8 pm Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet 3 – 5 pm Sunday.
