Private Service for Jeanie (Calhoun) Sanders, 78, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma is under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on October 28, 1942 in Brent, Oklahoma to Martha Jane (Hollis) Calhoun and Cecil Calhoun and passed away on January 5, 2021 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to Billy Mack Sanders on June 26, 1959 in Brent community, Oklahoma and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Jeanie was a homemaker, teachers aide with Sallisaw Public Schools, and a substitute teacher. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sallisaw. Jeanie was an amazing cook, game player (especially Dominos) and loved to sing, sew and crochet. Beyond all those things she was a loving wife, mother, nana and friend.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Orendorff, Dr. Phil Agent and the staff at Northeastern Health System-Sequoyah for the great care that was given to Mrs. Sanders.

Survivors are:

husband: Billy Mack Sanders of the home;

4 children: Sherree Reid and Roy of Coweta, OK, Marlia Ballard and Scott of Durant, OK, Billie Jo Claunts and John of Muskogee, OK and Michael Sanders and Michelle of Sallisaw, OK;

9 grandchildren: Chad Reid and Whitney of Coweta, OK, Marlissa Sheffield and Beau of Coweta, OK, Sara Furr and Kile of Shawnee, OK, Keach Ballard of Shawnee, OK, Brandon Young and Shannon of Camano Island, WA, Ashley Armstrong of Sallisaw, OK, Myka Rhodes and Brandon of Purcell, OK, Kristin Cranford and Zac of Van Buren, AR and Johnathon Sanders of Sallisaw, OK;

15 great-grandchildren: Lilly, Zoe, Vivian, Braxton, Reese, Karsten, Amadeus, Malachi, Adoniah, Fysher, Beau, Phinley, Lyla, Lincoln and Miles;

sister: Bernice Loper of Magnolia, TX;

numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Ima Dee Jackson, Marilyn Wiley, Nadine Middleton, Ardath Pratt and Wilberta Akam; and two brothers, Patrick Calhoun and J.C. Calhoun.

Pallbearers will be Chad Reid, Marlissa Sheffield, Sara Furr, Keach Ballard, Brandon Young, Ashley Armstrong, Myka Rhodes, Kristin Cranford and Johnathon Sanders.

Viewing will be 4 – 8 PM Thursday and 10 AM – 8 PM Friday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
