Jim attended Gans Public School where he met the love of his life, Nettie. They were married on January 3, 1956. Their family quickly grew with 6 daughters and one son. Jim was a man of many talents. He spent time playing the guitar at the Gans Music Hall, on the baseball field as the catcher or floating the creek fishing.
Little feet followed his every step. Each grandchild fit perfectly into his arms and he provided an endless supply of watermelons to all. Jim was willing to help those in need, never expecting anything in return. If there was a lawn to be mowed, he was your guy. He read his bible daily and loved the Gospels and the truth it holds.
As a newlywed he supported his family by driving a bus for Gans Public School. As time went by he wore a badge for the Town of Muldrow and City of Sallisaw. He spent several years working at the Lime Quarry in Marble City. After retirement he became the groundskeeper at Akins Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held on March 25, 2023 at First Baptist Church Sallisaw Fellowship Hall from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
