John B. Roper

Graveside Services for John B. Roper, 88 of formerly of Midwest City, Oklahoma will be at 11 am on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on April 16, 1930 in Inola, Oklahoma to Mazie (Pettit) Roper and John Boyd Roper and passed away on October 16, 2018 in Denton, Texas. He was married to Joan (Newberry) Roper on October 21, 1953 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma and they were married for 60 years. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2014. Mr. Roper continued the Pharmacist legacy from his father. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Doctorate of Pharmacy. He loved OU football, spending time with his family, and vacations. Mr. Roper was a U.S. Navy and Air Force Veteran, an avid hunter and a member of First Baptist Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Survivors are:

2 daughters: Julie Roper of Flower Mound, TX and Jon Ann Roper of Flower Mound, TX

1 sister: Cherie Sanders of Sallisaw, OK

1 nephew: Robert Sanders of Lavaca, AR

2 nieces: Jana Sanders Wright of Sallisaw, OK and Cindy Sanders of Sallisaw, OK

numerous other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; his parents, John and Mazie Roper; and brother in law, E.B. Sanders

Active Pallbearers will be Shannon Vann, Jeremy Wilson, Lance Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Paul Sanders, and Bob Sanders.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Fallwell, Joil Goff, and Burt Stewart .

Viewing will be Friday 10 am – 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw. The family will greet from 5 – 7 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
