Funeral services for John Earl Berggren are Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow. Burial is at Memory Garden Cemetery in Muldrow, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Muldrow.

Viewing is Thursday from 11 am – 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow. The family will greet from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.

John Earl Berggren was born July 3, 1935 in Fremont, Nebraska to Earl and Louise (Carstens) Berggren. He grew up in South Sioux City, Nebraska where he was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, along with hunting and fishing. He was a 1955 graduate of South Sioux City High School. He then joined the U.S. Army on December 30, 1955 and completed basic training at Fort Chaffee in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was stationed with the 2nd Infantry Division Company B in Alaska for 3 years during the Korean Conflict. He was 3 years active duty and 1 year in the reserves and honorably discharged December 8, 1958.

John married Donna Rose Farrell April 5, 1961 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. he was of the Lutheran Faith and a member of the First Lutheran Church. He worked for Iowa Beef Packers in Dakota City, Nebraska before moving to Muldrow, Oklahoma and retired from Southwestern Die Casting Company in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Upon retirement he enjoyed his love of hunting and fishing.

He passed December 25, 2017 at his home in Muldrow, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Louise Berggren; brother, Richard Berggren; son, Jason Berggren; and grandson, Justin Malone.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; 2 daughters, Cynthia Malone and husband Brett of Springfield, IL and Candace Humphries and husband Scott of Alma, AR; one son, Jack Berggren of Muldrow, OK; and one granddaughter, Miranda Humphries of Fayetteville, AR.

Active pallbearers are Scott Humphries, Tony Floyd, Keith Turpin, Rick Turpin, Tim Jones, and Jerry Garner
