John R. Weaver

May 6, 1932 — December 20, 2023

John R. Weaver was born to Ray and Rena Weaver in Glenrock, WY., on May 6, 1932. John spent his “growing up years” north of Seattle, WA where his father was an airplane mechanic at Paine Field. John graduated from Northwest Bible Institute in Seattle in 1954 with a ministerial degree. After graduation, John was an associate pastor in an Assembly of God church in Idaho Falls, ID. He married Teeny Waterman of Salmon, ID on November 16, 1956. Together, John and Teeny had 3 children – Andrea, John and Mark. He took the lead pastor positions of Assembly of God churches in three different cities in Montana over the span of 32 years, then an associate position in Kalispell, MT. for the remainder of his career. Eight years after his wife, Teeny died, John married Marilyn Barger of Sallisaw, OK. Marilyn had lost her husband, Eugene, 12 years earlier. John and Marilyn had been friends since they were teenagers in Montana. John and Marilyn settled in Sallisaw, and were together for 14 years, until his death, Dec. 20, 2023, with his wife and his stepdaughter, Janette, by his side. John is described by those who knew him, as kind, gentle, patient, meek, joyful, loving, godly and faithful, pretty much, a lot like Jesus.

John’s life goal was to please the Lord. When John stepped through the Pearly Gates Dec. 20, at 5:45pm, he was greeted by his Savior (Who said, “I am pleased”), his parents, his brother Ray, a sister he had never met, and thousands of people in heaven because of his life and ministry. John leaves behind his loving wife Marilyn, who cared for him constantly in the latter part of his life; her children, Daniel Barger and Cindi, Janette Hohn and Larry; his children, Andrea, her husband Steve, of Billings, MT., John, and his wife Joanna of Hamilton, MT; twin sister, Mary Cox of Lynnwood, WA., along with a large extended family.

A service of celebration will be held this spring in Kalispell, MT, where he will be buried next to his first wife, Teeny. Cremation is under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
