Juanita, a homemaker, was born on January 11, 1932 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma to Hattie Mae (Blanton) Kerns and Freddy Clarence Kerns. She passed away on December 21, 2023 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Juanita married Thomas Eugene Martin on May 16, 1971 in Whitefield, Oklahoma, and they resided in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma until the time of her passing.
She was a Christian and a central figure in the lives of her family. Juanita truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, like attending family birthday parties and gatherings. One of her greatest joys was when the family gathered to play music, sing, and dance. Her entire soul would light up in delight; she adored her family and made us all feel loved and special. She was ornery and feisty, and so full of life that no one could contain her. She had a vibrant personality and was described by many of her grandchildren as their ‘sassy, fun’ Grandma.
She is survived by her husband, Tom of the home; five daughters, Sharon Johnson of Webbers Falls, OK, Joanne Sikes of Webbers Falls, OK, Ellen Calhoun and Comer of Webbers Falls, OK, Tammy Melton and Lonnie of Webbers Falls, OK and Sandy Johnson and Darren of Webbers Falls, OK; one son, David Benefield of San Antonio, TX; 27 grandchildren; several great, great-great, and great-great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Billy Benefield and Dennis Benefield; and three brothers, Thomas, M.C., and James.
