Kimberly Renee (Holmes) Thomason

Funeral Service for Kimberly Renee (Holmes) Thomason, 50, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born February 10, 1973 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Kenneth and Rita Holmes. Kim married Jimmy Dean Thomason on July 1, 2020 in Harrison, Arkansas. Kim passed from this life on April 17, 2023 at the age of 50.

Kim was a lifelong Sallisaw resident and a public school teacher for over 20 years. In her younger days, Kim loved band and played in the Sallisaw band for several years. She was elected band queen her senior year. Kim graduated from Sallisaw High School in 1992. Kim attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah majoring in childhood education. She graduated from NSU in 1995. She began her teaching career in Vian where she taught for a couple years before moving to the Sallisaw Public School where she stayed through the rest of her career. Kim was a member of The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. She was baptized when she was 17 by Brother Walter Barnes. Kim began her family when she adopted her son Brayden Wayne Holmes in 2002. She and Brayden spent many hours going to shodeos with her father and nephew Sawyer. She loved to listen to the boys play and sing with their pawpaw. After Kim and Jimmy were married, they were the love of each other’s lives and soon had to share that love with others. They became foster parents and soon adopted five kids into their family – Jorge, Robert, Trevor, Hazel and Kenzie. Kim and Jimmy shared a love of adventure and took many trips together and with the kids. They made a big family trip to Alaska in December 2021.

Kim is survived by her husband, Jimmy of the home; children, Brayden of Sayre, OK and Jorge, Robert, Trevor, Hazel and Kenzie of the home; mother, Rita Holmes; five brothers, Wayne (Phyllis) Holmes, Phillip (Monti) Adams, David (Patty) Adams, Paul (Allyson) Adams, Jeff (Dana) Holmes; two sisters, Melanie (Richard) Mayo and Diane (Rusty) Tillery; two brothers-in-law, Albert Gene Thomason and Phillip (Molly) Brixley; 23 nieces and nephews along with 35 great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Holmes; her niece, Tricia Dobbs; and one great-nephew Silas Dobbs.

Pallbearers are her nephews, Clay Adams, Gayln Adams, Caleb Holmes, Jason Holmes, Ryan Mayo and Sawyer Pool.

Honorary pallbearers are her nephews, Bobby Adams, Cameron Holmes and Trevor Teel.
